Hafidh Abi ‘Abdillah Sham ad-Deen Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman Adh-Dhahabi (d. 748H)

A precious book in its field and significant in its content. Its fame has spread widely, benefiting Muslims greatly. It is a rich source for preachers, orators, admonishers, and teachers.

The author compiled seventy-six major sins (kaba’ir) that we are religiously commanded to avoid and prohibited from committing. He then included a chapter on what might be considered major sins, providing the evidence from the Shari’ah for the prohibition of each, drawn from the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah.
